2004
In
March, Matthew took the bronze medal in the Junior Boys' race at English Schools in
Maidstone, Kent. He earned himself an England vest, and will go on to represent
his country at the Home Counties Schools international event in Ayr against the
other British countries.

won the Gloucestershire Schools Cross-country championships from Joe
Dalgleish.
Withey, 14, finished fourth in the English Schools
Championships last March and will be hoping for another big performance
this winter. |

Simon
Horsfield (East Cheshire Harriers) was the surprise winner of the Under 15
race, finishing strongly to pull away from Cardiff’s Simon Lawson who
was with him for much of the way. Stroud’s Matthew Withey came
through to pip Lawson for second with early leader Christian Booker of
Halesowen fourth.
