Megan was ?th in the
South
of England Cross-country U17s Race at Parliament Hill, London.
At the English
Nationals Megan Foley's late charge took her past pre-race favourite Charlotte
Browning to win u17 girls' bronze, as she finished 15th overall in the
combined u17/u20 race.
Megan
Foley just missed medal places as she
finished fourth in the U17s race their respective races at the Reebok
Inter-counties in Nottingham.
Megan was unable to repeat her national bronze in the u17 event but her
consistent form was rewarded by her fourth place finish in 18m 55s, five seconds
off medal pace.
English Schools
Cross-country
Megan Foley won
individual bronze and led her Essex Intermediate Girls squad to English Schools
team gold at Maidstone, Kent. Her bronze medal was a repeat of last year's
performance as favourite Emily Pidgeon flew to
gold, with last week's Inter Counties winner Stephanie Barnes winning
silver. She was in good company as Katie
Richardson, still coming back from injury, was only 11 seconds behind Megan
in eighth to set up the team gold. |
World Schools Cross-country |
|
In
April Megan Foley had an excellent run to come 21st in the World Schools Cross
Country Events for Under 18 athletes held at Le Tour de Salvagny, Lyons. Against
really hard competition and on a really hot day Megan was second of the English
girls home in an event dominated by Algerian and Moroccan competitors who filled
10 of the first 13 places. Megan came through strongly, moving up nine places
over the last 400m of the 3800m course, to finish in 13:12. National champion
Abby Westley was the first in the English team to finish in 15th, as the team placed fifth. |
Megan won the Essex Country Championships U17 1500m.
Megan Foley ran a PB at the
National Junior Athletes League at Hendon in the 3000m for third on the Havering
& Mayesbrooke all-time list.
Megan took 6th place in the
Intermediate Girls' 1500m at the English Schools Track and Field Championships
in Gateshead, after finishing 4th in her heat. Her time of 4:30.24 was still a
national standard performance though, in an extremely high-class field. The race
was won by Surrey's Danielle Christmas, who streaked ahead to win with a 2
second margin. Megan's heat was an incredibly close race, with just 1 second separating
the 4 qualifiers.

The
u17 girls' trio of Robyn Matson, Megan Foley and Katie
Richardson
started the winter season in style when they struck silver in the South of
England Road Relays today. After Robyn's solid opener in 11th (11:23), Megan
overhauled nine teams to put the team in medal contention with a sparkling 10:53
run, for seventh fastest overall. Katie's
brilliant anchor leg of 10:22 was bettered on the day only by Woodford's Jessica
Sparke, but it was not enough to close down winners Aldershot.
Katie
Richardson and Megan Foley faced good quality opposition this weekend when
they competed for the South of England team in the Lotto Crosscup under 20 event
at Ghent, Belgium on Sunday. Megan's slow start to the winter season continued
as she failed to translate her training form into competition but nevertheless
she was still placed 24th.
